Zdecydował się rozwiązać problem często dotykający ludzi zafascynowanych górami i po powrocie dodomu, w małym laboratorium opracował pierwszy produkt zapobiegający oparzeniom słonecznym, produkt znany pod marką Piz Buin. W 1962 wprowadza SPF, który dziś stał się światowym standardem. W latach 90-tych marka Piz Buin jako pierwsza rozwija technologię potrójnej ochrony (filtry UVA, UVB oraz wit.
